What is Wan2.2 Animate?

Wan Animate is a unified framework for character animation generation and character replacement. Given a character image and a reference video, Wan Animate supports two modes:

Animation Mode

Generates high-fidelity character animation videos by precisely replicating the facial expressions and body movements from the reference video.

Replacement Mode

Seamlessly integrates the character into the reference video, replacing the original character while reproducing the scene's lighting and color style to achieve natural environmental blending.

Technical Innovation

Advanced Input Paradigm

Built upon the Wan model with an improved input paradigm that distinguishes reference conditions from regions to be generated, thereby unifying multiple tasks under a common symbolic representation.

Relighting LoRA Module

Features an auxiliary relighting LoRA module that applies appropriate environmental lighting and color tones while preserving the character's appearance consistency for enhanced environmental blending.

We replicate body movements using spatially aligned skeletal signals and extract implicit facial features from the source image to reproduce expressions, thus generating character videos with high controllability and expressiveness.
